Who We Are
The MANA RAPANUI FOUNDATION And TOKI RAPA NUI are nonprofit organizations dedicated to empowering children and youth through comprehensive education, cultural preservation, and sustainable development. Rooted in the unique identity of Rapa Nui, both organizations work to overcome the challenges of geographic isolation, limited opportunities, and social vulnerability by fostering creativity, resilience, and community engagement.
Our Shared Vision
Together, we envision a future where every child has access to enriching educational experiences, a strong cultural identity, and the tools to build a sustainable life. Our joint efforts focus on nurturing talent, preserving intangible heritage, and promoting environmental stewardship to ensure a thriving and resilient Rapa Nui.
Program Areas
- Art and Music, first self-sustaining school: Toki Rapa Nui, provide free fully integrated education and instructions on diverse art disciplines, multiple instruments, piano, violin, chelo, ukelele among others, guiden children and youth in learning classical and traditional instruments, nurturing their talents and training them as complete musicians on their artistic, social and cultural development. Our approach emphasizes discipline, creativity and integrity.
- Heritage: We promote the use of the Rapa Nui language and the transmission of cultural knowledge through traditional disciplines. Our programs support the safeguarding of intangible heritage and strengthen cultural identity.
- Sustainability and Agro ecology: the purpose of amplifying the students’ development, Toki teaches them to value agriculture as primary activity and promoting ancestral cultivating techniques. We cultivate environmental awareness and encourage sustainable practices through education, community projects, and hands-on activities that connect youth with nature. Rapa Nui has sought to embody an undeniable ecological ethos in all its activities, promoting environmental awareness, respect for the surroundings, sustainable growth, and the formation of students eager to be agents of change.

Toki Rapa Nui’s commitment ranges from the simplest actions, such as reducing single- use plastic and waste, minimizing unnecessary printed material, and recycling, to more extensive programs such as the construction of the fully self-sustainable School of Music and the Arts, and the agroecological program carried out in the past.
Moreover, we are a partner of the Plastic Oceans Foundation and members of the global Blue Communities network. Additionally, we are part of the Environmental Network along with other local organizations, an initiative created by the municipality of Rapa Nui to coordinate education in this field.

Our collaborative programs address these challenges by creating safe, enriching spaces for youth development, strengthening cultural identity, and equipping future leaders with the knowledge and skills to thrive.
